Have you ever experienced wanting to wear a favorite shirt only to be overwhelmed by that nauseating kulob smell? With those occasional rainy days suddenly coming up, many people think that kulob smell is caused by indoor drying. In truth, kulob is caused by invisible stains on clothes.
Mariel Rodriguez Padilla, Say Alonzo, and Joy Sotto are just some of those people wishing for kulob smell to disappear. A new online video answers their wish, thanks to Kuya Kim Atienza laying down the facts behind the new Ariel, and how its latest formulation gives the
deepest clean that keeps clothes free from invisible kulob stains that cause the malodor.
Invisible kulob stains? How exactly can you see them? How can you get rid of them? Watch Kuya Kim, Mariel, Say, and Joy remove those invisible kulob stains in this video:http://bit.ly/ArielAgainstKulob #NoInvisibleStainNoKulob
Fast facts on Kulob
There are many myths behind that kulob stench that attaches on clothes.
For the ever fashionable Mariel Rodriguez Padilla, the awful kulob smell can cut down her confidence even while wearing her best-looking outfits. In the past, the start of the rainy season meant putting up with kulob, a problem she has finally conquered with the help of Ariel’s innovative formula.
Kulob has also been an issue in Say Alonzo’s and Joy Sotto’s households before. Even with their children’s freshly-washed clothes looking clean, there’s still a tendency for that foul kulob smell to persist. They shared that this problem gets even worse during the rainy season, which deeply troubled meticulous moms like them. It’s a good thing they don’t have to worry anymore, since Ariel’s superior cleaning power can now effectively fight against those invisible kulob stains.
Myth-Busting with Ariel
In the video, Kuya Kim uses UV light to reveal that kulob are actually invisible stains. To the moms’ delight, these stains can now be efficiently cleaned by Ariel’s innovative formula that puts an end to all malodor problems.
“Kulob smell on clothes is a problem for many Filipinos. Most people think this is caused by indoor drying, when it is actually due to invisible stains that harbor malodor-causing microorganisms. We hope that with Ariel’s innovative and superior formula, Filipinos will be able to enjoy fresh-smelling and deeply clean clothes all year long – rain or shine,” said Louie Morante, Regional Brand Communications for P&G Asia Fabric and Home Care.
Thanks to Ariel, anyone can have fresh-smelling clothes, no matter what the season. “With Ariel, siguradong wala nang invisible stains that can cause that amoy kulob on clothes. The new Ariel gives me the deepest clean that I need that I can be confident that my clothes will always be fresh,” concludes Mariel.
Experience the powerful deep-cleaning of Ariel’s improved formulation that fights those invisible kulob stains to keep your clothes smelling clean, fresh, and kulob-free all day everyday!
The PRRC, in collaboration with UP PLANADES, designed the Pasig River Integrated and Strategic Master Plan (PRISM) with a vision that by 2032, the Pasig River and its surrounding basins are resilient life-sustaining ecosystems that are able to support diverse human needs and biodiversity towards inclusive, harmonized, and balanced development co-managed by competent and adaptive institutions with responsible and empowered communities.
This new restoration strategy covers water quality management, stream flow management, catchment management and riparian management so that the Pasig River will again enshrine socioeconomic, aesthetic, environmental, recreational and cultural values amid changing risks and natural perturbations.
The illustration below provides a brief summary of the integrated wastewater treatment systems, one of the 19 priority projects proposed in the PRISM to help improve the water quality of the Pasig River, and for concerned agencies to comply with concession agreement, and other environmental laws.
The Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) welcomed the selection of Pasig River as a finalist in the first ever Asia RiverPrize by the prestigious International River Foundation (IRF).
PRRC Executive Director Jose Antonio “Pepeton” E. Goitia said this is the second time Pasig River, the cradle of early Manila civilization, vied for an international recognition.
In 2017, Pasig River was hailed as runner-up to the winner, San Antonio River of Texas, USA in the Thiess International Riverprize competition.
“The consecutive entries of the Pasig River as a finalist in the 2017 and 2018 Thiess International and Asia Riverprize, respectively, is a testament that the world recognizes the efforts of the Philippine government to restore the Pasig River and its environs since PRRC was established in 1999,” said Goitia.
The IRF recognizes and rewards organizations that are making a difference through effective river basin restoration and management programs.
Initially, the competition was called the Asia-Pacific Riverprize Awards which was opened to entrants from New Zealand, Australia, and 45 other countries.
However, according to the IRF, due to the high number and quality of entries received, it decided to split the promoted Asia-Pacific Riverprize into: Asia Riverprize and Australasia Riverprize.
After a series of tedious deliberations, the IRF has announced and congratulated the organizations chosen as Asia Riverprize finalists with the highest honors in river restoration and protection namely: the Pasig River (Philippines) and the Yangtze River (China).
Goitia added that “last year, the Philippines is the only third world and developing country that made it into the international finals and bravely competed with the US and the United Kingdom. In this year’s Asia Riverprize, we will be facing the red dragon, China. We remain steadfast and optimistic that we will stand triumphant in the end.”
In behalf of the IRF’s board of river basin experts, IRF Director Professor Bill Dennison said that “these different river stories are united by a common theme: excellence in river management.”
The Riverprize is not a competition of which river is more beautiful or cleaner. This is the reason why the IRF, comprised of river management experts and professionals from around the world, has given importance and consideration to the rehabilitation efforts of the PRRC to bring back the Pasig River system to life.
It has acknowledged PRRC’s commitment in delivering quality projects, programs, and activities in easement recovery, housing and resettlement, riverbanks development, waste and water quality management, and public awareness.
Compared to the 1990s when it was declared “biologically dead,” the Pasig River’s condition now has significantly improved.
Although the Pasig River development is a work in progress, many areas along the historic river have already shown signs of aquatic life and it has already become conducive for transport, recreation, and tourism.
Goitia, together with other PRRC officers, will be presenting and defending the Philippines’ Pasig River entry to a panel of esteemed judges in the upcoming 21st International Riversymposium on October 14 to 18, 2018 in Sydney, Australia. Members of PRRC’s Management Committee will also form part of the Philippine delegation.
The winner of the 2018 Asia Riverprize will receive widespread global recognition which can build new partnerships, provide opportunities for exchange of knowledge and best practices, and open doors for international support.
Furthermore, the winner will automatically qualify for Stage Two of the Thiess International Riverprize in 2019.
As one nation, the PRRC seeks everyone’s support to its Pasig River entry in the 2018 Asia Riverprize.
The Pasig River’s victory is the victory of the Philippines and every Filipino who works hard and shares the same vision of saving our waterways and the environment. It will be the triumph of all who believe that the dream of a clean and alive Pasig River.

Acts of Kindness Hosts Art Exhibit Benefiting Smile Train, the World’s Leading Cleft Charity
On July 19, Acts of Kindness and Solaire Resorts and Casino unveiled, “A Celebration of Smiles: Creating smiles and second chances at life through art,” an art exhibit benefiting Smile Train, the world’s leading cleft charity. The exhibit is being held at Solaire’s The Shoppes Artway.
The exhibit features artwork by local and international artists, and some of Smile Train’s former cleft patients. The artwork will be available for sale until September 2 and will help raise funds and awareness for children with clefts in the Philippines.
“We are grateful that Acts of Kindness is hosting this art exhibit to help raise awareness for Smile Train and our local programs here in the Philippines. Through this initiative, not only is Acts of Kindness able to showcase local and international talent, they are also able to help create a brighter future for children born with clefts,” said Kimmy Coseteng-Flaviano, Area Director for Smile Train in Southeast Asia.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Smile Train to help fund various local programs to provide free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care for Filipinos.
The art exhibit showcases pieces from Roberto Sanchez, a DJ and entrepreneur by trade, but creatively a self-taught artist. Sanchez works are primarily expressionistic, dramatic portraits replete with distorted, thick lines and incongruous forming gnarly surfaces of painted faces.
This artist duly approaches his paintings with a process that aims to capture the essence of the portrait subjects. While he technically addresses physicality and form, he is keenly interested to understand and capture in his canvas real presences from his subjects.
He takes particular cue with the eyes which for him spells and define the character of the subjects. And even if the frames are still unfinished, they already evoke such entrancing stillness, energies, and completeness. They have the ability to charm and confuse.
Sanchez finds affirmation when his painted subjects find themselves in his works as they connect with their painted likeness in canvas.
Jon Ray Fernandez is an airline professional turned mixed media artist. A self-taught visual artist, Fernandez started off with zero art education since it never occurred to him that art could possibly be a career.
Originally from Bacolod City, he left the country to travel the world. After being based in London and the Middle East for a number of years, he came back to the Philippines in 2015 with plans to continue his aviation career. Eventually, he stumbled upon the world of art and there found his true calling.
As a visual artist, his main objective is to bring beauty and fun back into local art. He started posting his works on social media, gaining a fan base around the globe. With Pedro Almodovar, muse Rosie De Palma, and actress Emmanuele Beart admiring his works, this led to patrons buying his pieces. Camy Cabral, a full-time artist with a background in design and advertising; and Albrecht Behmel, an award-winning artist and best-selling writer whose works have been shown in Paris, Beijing, New York, Moscow and London. Despite coming from different backgrounds with different styles of artwork, these artists came together to offer their pieces all for a good cause.
Apart from the seasoned artists, some of the artwork is from Smile Train’s former cleft patients including: Julia Robert Capili, Angel Ibo, Pearl Angeli Miranda, Jervy Hobo and Nickson Cabote. Having interacted with the guests, these individuals have shown how far they’ve come since their initial cleft surgery.
“We hope that we can continue to raise awareness for children with clefts in the Philippines and all over the world through these small acts of kindness,” says Flaviano. “We want to continue to spread smiles and encourage others to do the same.”
